About the Infection Control Unit

The Infection Control Unit provides a comprehensive service of infection prevention and control within the Government Health Services It is located at St. Luke's Hospital and serves as an information provider for both hospital staff and the general public in matters of hospital infections and antibiotic use. The Unit also provides a number of ancillary services in occupational health, vaccination, waste management and participates in several European surveillance projects.

Services:

All health workers are eligible for a full service by the Infection Control Unit while the general public is provided with information services.

Requests for information are received by phone or e-mail and responded to immediately.

Vaccination service is held without appointment currently twice weekly.

The unit also provides an on-call service for needlestick injuries in healthcare workers on a 24-hours basis through a pager notification service via the St. Luke's Hospital telephone operators.

The documentation need when any of the services is need is the I.D. Card number for record maintenance purposes and healthcare entity where in employment.

Are there any processing fees involved for these services?

All services are provided free of charge.
