The growing threat of bacterial resistance to antimicrobials is a world-wide problem and is a major factor when deciding what antibiotic therapy to institute, even if using evidence-based guidelines. Each country and sometimes hospital will have specific patterns of resistance that may differ significantly from those of others.
In order to assist local physicians in sensible antimicrobial prescribing we are providing information on susceptibility of strains isolated at St. Luke's Hospital.
The data has been extracted with permission from the database of the Bacteriology Laboratory of the Pathology department of St. Luke’s hospital and includes isolates for the years 2000-2001. The data for the 2002 should be available later on this year.
These antibiograms refer to the, in vitro, sensitivity of the respective bacterial species to the chemotherapeutic agents against which it was tested and are classified by organism. In order to retrieve the local antibiogram select the particular organism/s and the respective sensitivities will be displayed.
Select either of the following: 1. One organism and one antibiotic
An updated (January 2004) EXCEL97 version is also available to make printing and usage of this data easier. [for user to download]
